Meet the Coaches
Head Varsity Coach: Chris Lun (19th Season, 282-185 overall)
Coach Lun is entering his 19th season as the Head Coach of Whitman Basketball. Coach Lun has compiled an overall record of 282-185 (.604) in his career at Whitman. In Lun's second season, Whitman captured the 2006 MD 4A State Championship with a 39-38 win over Eleanor Roosevelt at the XFinity Center at the University of Maryland. Whitman made return trips to XFinity in 2014 and 2024 (MD State Finalists) and 2016 (MD State Semi-Finalist). Lun is the second longest tenured boys' coach in Montgomery County (Dan Harwood, Magruder). Lun teaches math and is the Superstars Team Leader at Pyle MS in Bethesda. He also runs a summer youth basketball camp for boys and girls at Pyle. Lun (a proud Penn State grad) lives in downtown Bethesda with his wife (Monica) and 12-year old Yorkie (Millie). He is also the Boys Basketball Sport Director and 4A West Tournament Director in Montgomery County.
Ryan Mullin, JV Head Coach
Coach Mullin is entering his 3rd Season as JV Head Coach at Whitman. He was born and raised in Massachusetts and is a proud Penn State graduate. Coach Mullin is a huge PSU sports fan and also cheers on the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox. He has been teaching in Montgomery County for 8 years. He currently teaches Special Ed -- Learning for Independence (LFI) at Whitman, and coaches the Corollary Handball and Softball Teams. He also runs the Best Buddies program.
Coach Mullin lives in Gaithersburg with his wife (Lauren) and dog (Gronk).
Bryton Curtis, Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Curtis is entering his first season as a varsity assistant at Whitman. Coach Curtis currently serves as the Executive Director of Championships and Sport Administration for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). Curtis received a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Baker University in Kansas. He was born in St. Louis, MO and played college basketball at Fontbonne University. Curtis moved to the DMV area in March 2022. He resides in Northern Virginia.
